WYOMING COWBOYS FENWICK FALCONS
After a long summer of two-a-day practices and workouts, the Cowboys are ready to take on their first opponent of the year. This Thursday, August 23rd, Wyoming will take on Bishop Fenwick High School in a Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown match up. This game will be a good first test for this year's Cowboy team.
Fenwick hails from the powerful GCL, and finished last season a strong 8-2. The Falcons lose starter Austin Gearing at Quarterback, as well as leading running back Zach Hoehn.
The main storyline this year for Wyoming will have to be the new head coach, Aaron Hancock, taking the reins from longtime leader Bernie Barre, who retired last year with an outstanding 317 wins in 34 years of coaching.
The Cowboys look to get a fresh start from last year's 6-4 record, as well as 3rd place finish in the CHL. Coach Hancock will take over an offense led by Junior quarterback Will Marty, who last year led the CHL in passing yards with 2054 yds., as well as adding 19 Touchdowns with 11 interceptions. Although they will lose some of their top scorers in Phillip Schuholz and Max Kadish, the Cowboys will turn to senior Tight End Ben Kurtz and Junior Wide Receiver Dominic Vamosi for their points through the air. On Defense, the Cowboys are led by Junior Casey Howell, who led the team in solo tackles last year, Brandford Darlington and Conner Hughes. Although the Cowboys lost last year's leader in tackles, Dennis Austin, the Cowboy defense should be quite solid this year.
Location: Sycamore High School
